Serving the diverse needs of children in foster care by empowering communities with innovative solutions
When one foster family temporarily cares for another family's foster children, this is respite foster care. Respite care requires licensing and classes, just as becoming a "regular" foster parent does.
Traditional fostering involves providing a safe and stable home for a child in need of care for a temporary period, with the goal of eventual reunification with their birth parents.
When reunification with the birth family is not possible, children in foster care need permanency in a loving and stable home. At this stage in the fostering journey, adopting the child becomes possible when agreed upon by the minor and the adoptive family.
